El Djenina street
The Jenina extended from the Western centre of the current Place des Martyrs to El Jenina Street. Il consisted of several buildings, one of which was the Palace of the Sultan which had been built by Salah Raïs between 1552 and 1556, Jamaa Esh-Shouash mosque, Dar Hamed, the harem of Hamed Dey, kilns and handling shops (Jenina Street), “the Small Garden” and the Turkish Palace of Salah Raïs which gave its name to the whole constructions.
